SOS Children’s opened its doors to us to give them support in the educational process of the children and adolescents it welcomes.
It is an international non-profit social development organization that works with the objective of guaranteeing the right of children and adolescents to family and community coexistence. In turn, they support families so that they are able to provide children with a protective family environment that promotes healthy development and, if necessary, from alternative care modalities.
Learning Management System (LMS)
With the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS), two courses were issued: Office automation, which teaches the main tools of the Office package, and another on the design and creation of multimedia resources.
On the other hand, and as a result of a need for Villages to improve the records of interventions in their population, a Strategic Analysis System was implemented, which facilitates the monitoring of each of the people who benefit from their programs.
Incorporate courses by LMS
The Village Monitoring, Evaluation and Research coordinator highlighted the accessibility of the courses and the proposed system:
“Kids from the age of 13 attend here. The idea is to give support to those who are working and to those who are not, associate them with a workshop and training. That is why this type of training program came in handy”.
For her part, the coordinator of the Nuevo Camino de Paysandú Youth Center, associated with Aldeas, described Siderys’ proposal as a «nice opportunity» given that although the Youth Center program has workshops, the implementation of the courses by LMS means a different and viable proposal for the objectives they pursue.
In turn, he expressed that it is a «good tool for the graduation plan of the biggest gurises.» Another benefit that he highlighted was the possibility of linking all the young people, both those who attend the Youth Center and those who do not.
Digital Inclusion
The courses were given at Casa Joven, Municipal Dependency of the Paysandú Intendancy. There is an Antel Digital Inclusion Space that has good connectivity facilitating the proposal.

As a final assessment of the experience and given the motivation of those who participated to continue learning, it is expected that it can be resumed this year. For Siderys, it was a more than gratifying experience to provide a tool for young people to obtain knowledge for free and accessible, and that this can later help them to enter the labor market more effectively
Aldeas pointed out to us as a weakness the record that the technicians kept in their intervention with the young people. Taking into account what they needed, Siderys proposed as a solution to implement a system that would facilitate the registration and monitoring of the population. In it, the intervention records would be perfected to later measure the progress.
“We planned in Word (paper), but at one point we decided that it had to be improved and go digital. We were of the idea of achieving a simpler registration solution for technicians, which would save them time and allow the information to be systematized and follow-up”
explained the coordinators. The Aldeas team did a great job to define all the aspects that the SAE had to comply with in order to systematize the records. With these requirements, Siderys began the design by working together.
The SAE began to be implemented with technicians who work with 16-year-olds, known as «youth advisors», close to graduation. In the current line of work, the aim is to produce automated monthly reports, with the information that they need to follow up on.
Optimization of results
The coordinator valued the incorporation of SAE at different levels. For the youth advisors who apply it, he understands that it saves time, efficiency, and the peace of mind of having everything consolidated, which allows for greater transparency.
For the children and young people to whom it is applied, there is the advantage of having the information consolidated and increasing the quality of care they receive. For supervisors, it facilitates access to the systematization of information. Lastly, for the coordination and monitoring area, it allows full and global control.
It is an enormous satisfaction for us to contribute and facilitate the noble work that this organization embodies every day. We hope that the relationship of mutual trust continues to be able to continue contributing to the community.
